PIP

Promotion of Internship

In order to strengthen promotion of work study (1-year-internship) and ENGG1820 Engineering Internship to our engineering students, CINTEC works with all engineering departments to arrange internship talks at ENGG2600 classes. Mr. K.Y. Leung, Associate Director of CINTEC, gave presentation on internship to SEEM students on 5 January 2015 (as shown in photo), BME students on 6 January 2015.

Recruitment Talks & Career Talk

In January, second term just started, three recruitment talks were held, included DBS Bank for graduates (left photo), moreover, ViXS Limited (right photo) and ecVision Limited for various opportunities. Besides, alumni of department of IE (IEAA) delivered a career talk to CUHK students on 28 January 2015.

Engineering Job Fair

The Engineering Job Fair was held successfully on 27-29 January 2015. CINTEC has worked with Faculty of Engineering to support the coordination of Job Fair, and served as the head booth in the event. We promoted PIP service, upcoming recruitment talks and job hunting platforms to students and exhibitors. The Job Fair attracted over 2,000 visitors.

CUHK ACTIVITY

ERGAA Hiking

Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, was invited by CUHK Engineering Faculty Alumni Association to join their Christmas hiking activity to Ma Shi Chau on 27 December 2014.

Welcome Dinner for CUHK Centre for Bioethics Launch Conference

The Chinese University of Hong Kong Centre for Bioethics was launched in 2014. A launch conference on population ageing and global cities was held on 9-10 January 2015, named “Building Bioethics Capacity in Hong Kong: Ethical Dimensions of Policy for Ageing and Genetics”. Prof. K.F. Wong represented Faculty of Engineering and attended the Welcome Dinner at Central Government Offices on 9 January 2015.

Opening Ceremony of Engineering Mentorship Programme

Prof. C.H. Cheng, Deputy Director of CINTEC was invited to the Opening Ceremony of the Engineering Mentorship Programme, which was successfully held on 24 January 2015. Over 80 mentees and alumni attended the ceremony to support the programme.

OUTREACH ACTIVITY

APAC Innovation Summit 2014

Prof. C.H. Cheng, Deputy Director of CINTEC, was invited to be the speaker of APAC Innovation Summit 2014, which was held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 2 December 2014. Prof. Cheng presented on “Logistics Management Systems using RFID-based Tracking & Sensing” in the Tech Forum themed “Internet of Things”.

The 3rd CCF Conference on Natural Language Processing & Chinese Computing (NLPCC 2014)

Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, was invited to the captioned conference during 8-9 December 2014. The conference held in Shenzhen was organized by the Technical Committee of Chinese Information, China Computer Federation for Chinese researchers from academia, industry, and government to share their ideas and researches, and to promote technical innovations in the field of natural language processing and Chinese computing.

China Outstanding Software Product Awards 2014 (Hong Kong Section) Judging Panel

The China Outstanding Software Product Awards (Hong Kong Section) is an annual event organized by Hong Kong Software Industry Association since 2009. This year, Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, was invited to be the judge. The final assessment was completed successfully on 9 December 2014. The award presentation ceremony is scheduled in April 2015.

ISACA China HK Chapter Annual Dinner 2014

The ISACA China HK Chapter Annual Dinner was held on 12 December 2014. Prof. K.F. Wong, as the VIP guest, attended the dinner and met with professionals, engineers and academics to share new developments and experiences.

The 6th Shenzhen-Hong Kong Professional ICT Associations Alliance Annual Conference

Prof. K.F. Wong attended the captioned conference on 15 December 2014. The conference, themed “Venture Capital for SME”, was composed by a technology forum and a gala dinner. Over 230 attendees from Shenzhen and Hong Kong could share their ideas in the field of ICT business and development collaboration.

Conference on Financial Big Data and Quantitative Investing

Prof. K.F. Wong visited Shanghai to attend the captioned conference on 17 December 2015. The event aims to gather specialists and investors in Mainland China to discuss the usage of big data in finance industry. Prof. Wong presented a talk themed, “Do You Trust Information in the Big Data Era?”, which included an introduction of the concept of big data and the problem of data credibility, and a presentation of CUHK’s research works in this area.

Prof. K.F. Wong as a guest speaker at Digital Broadcasting Corporation (DBC) digital radio programme, has been interviewed about “the investment on innovative technology is full of risks and opportunities”.

ITSC

Winter Camp 2014

ITSC organized its first winter camp for members during 22-24 December 2014. Near 40 members joined this 3-day event and experienced a various kind of activities, such as Mobile App Coding Workshop, Sharing by an engineering student and an aircraft maintenance craftsman, Flight Simulator Workshop… Participants were divided into 6 groups and learnt to build a remote control aircraft by themselves. Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, joined the Christmas party to celebrate with participants.

Opening Ceremony

‘Fusion between Chinese Cultural Arts and Robotics 科技顯六藝’ (6 Arts) is an Innovation-and-Technology-Fund project undertaken by CINTEC. It is a robot education programme for students in secondary and primary schools. This is the second time that CINTEC organizes this programme, in collaboration with Hong Kong Technology Education Association. An Opening Ceremony was held on 17 January 2015 at CUHK, a series of training, competitions and activities will then be kicked off.
