Recruitment Talks

In February and March, 16 recruitment talks were held, included Goldman Sachs Services (Asia) Limited , ASM Pacific Technology Limited, IBM, SmarTone and HKT.

Engineering Job Fair 2018

The Engineering Job Fair was held successfully on 13-15 March 2018. CINTEC has worked with Faculty of Engineering to support the coordination of Job Fair, and served as the head booth in the event. We promoted PIP service, upcoming recruitment talks and job hunting platforms to students and exhibitors.

CUHK ACTIVITY

Delegation Visit by The Principal Association of Catholic Secondary Schools

CINTEC worked with Faculty of Engineering to coordinate the captioned visit for principals of the Principal Association of Catholic Secondary Schools on 16 March 2018. Prof. K.F. Wong represented Faculty of Engineering to give a welcoming speech.

2018 World Class Arena Elite Competition Prize Presentation Ceremony

CINTEC supported World Class Arena to organize the Elite Competition Prize Presentation Ceremony on 17 March 2018. More than 200 secondary school students and their parents, teachers attended the ceremony.

Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, was the Guest of Honour of the ceremony and gave a speech about STEM education.

OUTREACH ACTIVITY

IEEE 4th World Forum on Internet of Things in Singapore

Prof. C.H. Cheng, Deputy Director of CINTEC, attended the captioned forum on 5-8 February 2018. Prof. Cheng presented a talk themed “Internet of Things Technologies for Smart Living” to explore how IoT technologies may be applied to improve the quality of life in a modern city like Hong Kong. Prof. Cheng also introduced his implementation examples in airport services, museum operations, public safety, etc.

CLP Engineer in School LEGO Smart City Workshop

Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, serves as a member of CLP Customer Consultative Group. Prof. Wong was invited to give a talk to 60 secondary school students in the Engineer in School LEGO Smart City Workshop organized by CLP on 17 March 2018. Prof. Wong delivered a talk themed “Hong Kong Smart City Blueprint” to introduce smart city and how technologies can be applied in Hong Kong.

Passenger Terminal Expo 2018 in Stockholm

Prof. C.H. Cheng, Deputy Director of CINTEC, was invited by Hong Kong International Airport to attend the captioned expo, the world’s leading international airport conference, in Stockholm on 20-22 March 2018.

Prof. Cheng’s research project “Resource Management through Video Analytic” is currently applied in Hong Kong International Airport. The system can facilitate trolley management and monitor the number of baggage trolleys.

ITSC

Exchange Camp

ITSC has organized a 4-day exchange camp to Guangzhou for members on 26-29 March 2018. 17 ITSC members joined the event and visited WeChat, Guangzhou University, EHang Inc., Canton Tower etc. Participants were also instructed to write an app about face recognition.

Hong Kong Tech Challenge 2017

Hong Kong Tech Challenge 2017 was held on 3-4 February 2018 in Hong Kong Science Park. 108 teams from 66 local primary and secondary schools registered for the competition this year. Winners of the game were nominated to represent Hong Kong joining the VEX Robotics World Championship in 25-28 April in the USA.

Robotics, STEM and Green Innovation

Kick-off Ceremony

The kick-off ceremony of Robotics, STEM and Green Innovation was held on 17 March 2018 at CUHK. 95 teachers form 76 local primary and secondary schools attended the kick-off ceremony. Robotics, STEM and Green Innovation is a new project focusing on promoting robotics and green energy. Coming activities include workshops, open classes, exhibition and competition. This project is hosted by The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Technology Education Association, sponsored by Innovation and Technology Commission, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation and Mitsubishi Electric Hong Kong.

DIY Windmill Workshop

The event was held on 30-31 March 2018 at CUHK, and 78 students joined the workshop. The workshop was one of the Science Festival 2018 activities, which was organized by Hong Kong Science Museum. The workshop included history, development and theory of windmill and DIY section.
