Recruitment Talks

Before the second term ended, seven recruitment talks were held, included TVB.COM Limited, Arup, Alvanon HK Ltd, Onwards Media Group Pte Ltd., TFI Digital Media Limited, KLA-Tencor and Cyberport.

After second term, CINTEC helped Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd to organize a recruitment talk for postgraduate students and research fellows.

EXHIBITIONS

International ICT Expo 2016

CINTEC coordinated CUHK’s participation in International ICT Expo at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 13-16 April 2016. 10 research projects were showcased in a 36 square meters booth.

Global Sources 2016 Spring Electronics Show

CUHK’s inventions were displayed at East Lobby, AsiaWorld-Expo, from April 18-21, 2016. With CINTEC’s coordination, 5 projects were showcased in the booth provided by Global Sources, included Smart Rehab, Smart Football Analyzer, Smart Gym, AuthPaper, Transformative Solar Car.

Hong Kong International Medical Devices and Supplies Fair (MDSF) 2016

MDSF concurrently held with the Hospital Authority Convention on 3-5 May 2016 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. CINTEC coordinated 9 CUHK research teams to participate in this Fair.

CUHK ACTIVITY

CUHK Entrepreneur Day 2016

CUHK Entrepreneur Day 2016 was held in Yasumoto International Academic Park on 6-7 May 2016. Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, and Mr. K.Y. Leung, Associate Director of CINTEC, participated in the Opening Ceremony and gave talks in different sessions.

International Mathematical Modeling Challenge 2016

International Mathematical Modeling Challenge 2016 was hosted by Faculty of Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong this year. CINTEC has cooperated with NeoUnion Organization to organize the competition. On 5-8 May 2016, over 100 contestants from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan and Macau came to CUHK to participant in the competition.

OUTREACH ACTIVITY

張沛松紀念中學青少年科藝嘉年華2016

Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, was invited to attend the captioned carnival held by Chang Pui Chung Memorial School on 10 April 2016. Prof. Wong gave a speech and presented awards to the winners of VEX robotics competition.

ICT Conference 2016 – Constructing Competitive Smart City

Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, attended the flagship event organized by the Institution of Engineering and Technology – ICT Conference 2016, themed Constructing Competitive Smart City, on 12 April 2016.

Internet Economy Summit 2016

Prof. K.F. Wong was invited by the Chief Information Officer to attend the Internet Economy Summit organized by HKSAR Government to explore the future development and strategies on the Internet Economy, featuring topical issues such as global economy powered by the Internet, global technology trend, “Internet +”, Internet-led economic growth in the Mainland and beyond, data-driven economy and opportunities of Internet of Things.

HKIE ITD Annual Dinner 2016

Prof. K.F. Wong attended the HKIE-ITD Annual Dinner 2016 on 12 May 2016 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

中國高校創新創業教育聯盟

Prof. K.F. Wong represented CUHK to attend the first meeting of captioned union on 20-21 May 2016 in Beijing to discuss the future developments of Chinese tertiary education institutes in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship.

ITSC ACTIVITY

Technology Visits and Year-end Ceremony

Two technology visits were arranged for ITSC members in April, which included visit to Hong Kong Disneyland on 8 April 2016 and KONE Elevator (HK) Ltd on 22 April 2016.

On 21 May, ITSC Year-end Ceremony 2015-16 was held in CUHK campus. Around 40 ITSC members joined the ceremony, and enjoyed a 3-hour DIY 3D Printer Workshop apart from award presentation.

Programming and Playing with Intelligent Robots 2016

The captioned workshop was another HK SciFest 2016 programme co-organized by ITSC and Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

The workshop was held on 9 and 16 April 2016 to arouse students’ interest in studying engineering and to enhance their learning experience in CUHK. During a total of 12 training hours, participants learnt the theory of computer systems and control engineering, and built an automatic robot for completing some challenging tasks.

“Apps designed for students, by students” Mobile Apps Competition 2016

ITSC co-organized a mobile apps competition with Department of Computer Science and Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, as one of the HK SciFest 2016 programmes in 2016.

This Competition aimed to encourage students to apply computer knowledge to create innovative solutions to solve problems. In particular, they were asked to design mobile apps for their own use. There were over 40 applications received. After a final presentation on 23 April 2016, the winning app of Junior Group is “Line Up” by Diocesan Girls’ School and Senior Group is “Copylate” by Kwun Tong Maryknoll College.
