Recruitment Talks

CINTEC held 15 recruitment talks in October and November 2015, companies included Asia Satellite, Cathay Pacific, Jardine, Thales, Hong Kong Jockey Club, Parsons Brinckerhoff and more. Work study promotion and more recruitment talks will be held in next term.

Seminar by Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute

As a collaboration project with CUHK, Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute will present lectures to introduce their work to CUHK fellows. CINTEC helped organize the first lecture on 28 October 2015. Dr. Jack Lau, Chief Marketing Officer of ASTRI, presented an overview of ASTRI, latest research and development of FinTech and career opportunities to CUHK staff and students.

IBM: Workshop on Apps Development

CINTEC worked with IBM China/Hong Kong Limited and Pi Centre to organize an apps development workshop for Engineering students on 6 November 2015. Mr. Chung Lam, IBM expert in Apps Development, introduced the IBM cloud platform – Bluemix to the participants; and taught participants to build and deploy web/mobile applications.

 

EXHIBITION

Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) 2015

During 13-16 October 2015, CINTEC coordinated CUHK’s participation in Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, and five research projects were showcased.

Global Sources 2015 Autumn Electronics Show

CUHK’s inventions in robotics and students’ projects were showcased at Hall 9, Asia-World Expo, from 18-21 October, 2015. With CINTEC’s coordination, 3 projects and 6 students’ robots were showcased in the booth provided by Global Sources.

InnoCarnival 2015

CINTEC coordinates CUHK’s participation in InnoCarnival, which is hosted by Innovation and Technology Commission at Hong Kong Science Park in every year. This year, it was held on 31 October – 8 November 2015, apart from the main booth, CUHK also had two more booths – ‘ITSC’ and ‘Fusion Between Chinese Cultural Arts & Robotics – 六藝機械人帝國’.

We showcased 9 projects in total, while one of them is a students’ awarded project, and the rest are professors’ research projects.

 

CUHK ACTIVITY

Closing Ceremony of CUHK Summer Research Placement Programme 2015

The CUHK Summer Research Placement Programme provided research placement opportunity and training to Mainland China and Taiwan students. Prof. K.F. Wong was one of the supporting professors and attended the captioned event on 14 August  2015 in CUHK campus.

CUSCS Seminar

Prof. K.F. Wong gave a talk, titled ‘產學研之間的合作’ to a Programme for the Administrative Staff of Shenzhen University on 24 August 2015 and delegates of Guangdong Medical University on 14 September 2015.

Also, Prof. C.H. Cheng presented a talk themed “香港中文大學在物聯網領域的研究成果” to Senior Administrative Staff of Science Parks and Companies of Guangzhou on 7 September 2015.

 

OUTREACH ACTIVITY

HKIA Technovation Conference-cum-Exhibition 2015

The captioned conference-cum-exhibition organized by Airport Authority Hong Kong was held on 15 September 2015. This year, the theme is Smart Airport: Object Tracking. Prof. K.F. Wong, represented CUHK to attend the Opening Ceremony, and Prof. C.H. Cheng presented his IoT projects in the exhibition.

第十一屆泛珠三角區域科協及科技團體聯席會議暨泛珠三角區域科技園區創新驅動發展論壇

Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, was invited to give a presentation in the captioned forum on 9 October 2015. The forum was held in Hong Kong Science Park to foster collaboration in Pan-Pearl River Delta.

Meeting with Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation and Hong Kong Technology Education Association

Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, and Mr. K.Y. Leung, Associate Director of CINTEC, had a meeting with Mr. Andrew Young, Chief Commercial Officer of HKSTP and Mr. Antony Leung, HKTEA on 26 October 2015 to explore possible collaborations in the near future.

HKIE 40th Anniversary Symposium on Accreditation of Engineering Programmes

The captioned symposium organized by The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers was held on 29 October 2015 to celebrate its 40th Anniversary. Prof. K.F. Wong, represented CUHK to attend the Symposium and gave a presentation.

Economic Digest’s Hong Kong Outstanding Enterprises Parade 2015

As invited by Economic Digest, Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC attended the captioned event on 30 October 2015. The award ceremony aims to reward outstanding enterprises. Prof. Wong delivered a speech and presented awards to the honorees of the winning companies.

Opening Ceremony of Enriched IT Programme in Secondary Schools

Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, was invited to the captioned ceremony on 7 November 2015 at Tamar CGO Conference Hall.  The ceremony aims to mark the beginning of the collaborative effort of secondary schools, tertiary institutions, industry and government to cultivate young IT talents in secondary schools.

eHealth Consortium Annual Dinner

Prof. K.F. Wong attend the captioned dinner on 26 November 2015. The organization aims at bridging healthcare and IT industries to advance the development of eHealth in Hong Kong and Mainland China.

 

ITSC

InnoCarnival 2015

As abovementioned, ITSC also participated in InnoCarnival 2015. This year, with game machines supported by Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, ITSC members designed a game “Airplane Olive” for visitors. Moreover, a project ‘磁懸浮‧水平軸‧旋扭式‧風力發電機’ from Ju Ching Chu Secondary School (Yuen Long) School was showcased.
