Before the second term ended, seven recruitment talks were held, included SmarTone Mobile Communications Ltd., Deltapath Limited, Avnet Inc., ICO Group Limited and TFI Digital Media Limited for graduate, and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd for research fellows.
EXHIBITION
International ICT Expo 2015
CINTEC coordinated CUHK’s participation in International ICT Expo at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 13-16 April 2015. 16 research projects and 2 undergraduate students’ smartphone apps were showcased in a 36 square meters booth.
Global Sources 2015 Spring Electronics Show
CUHK’s inventions in robotics and mobile electronics were displayed at the Robotics Experience Zone, Hall 10, Asia-World Expo, from April 18-20, 2015. With CINTEC’s coordination, 7 projects were showcased in the booth provided by Global Sources.
A press conference was held on 9 April 2015 by Global Electronics to promote the Robotics Experience Zone. About 20 local or regional media, including TVB, Mingpao, HK Economic Times, PC Market, came for the event. The Automatic Guided Forklift Truck developed by Prof. Liu Yun-Hui and his team, was one of the highlighted products for the event.
Hong Kong International Medical Devices and Supplies Fair (MDSF) 2015
MDSF concurrently held with the Hospital Authority Convention on 18-20 May 2015 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. CINTEC coordinated 18 CUHK research teams to participate in this Fair. A press conference was held on 14 May 2015 to promote Prof. TONG Kai Yu Raymond’s ‘Exoskeleton Ankle Robot’ project which is collaborating with Industrial Centre of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
China Innovation and Technology Fair 2015 中國創新科技成果交流會
The first China Innovation and Technology Fair was held in Guangzhou on 22-23 May 2015. CINTEC coordinated 5 CUHK project teams, including ‘RFID Environment Monitoring System’, ‘Vision-based Intelligent Forklift Automatic Guided Vehicle’, ‘Codex Genetics’, ‘MODEST: Web Information Mining and Decision Support Platform’ and ‘Emulation Platform for Fault Injection Attack’, to participate in this Fair.
INDUSTRIAL VISIT
Delegation Visit from Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Industries Association
Prof. K.F. Wong represented CINTEC to receive delegates from Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Industries Association on 4 May 2015. Laboratory tours to ‘Surgical Robotic System’ by Prof. Yam Yeung and ‘Use of Nanoparticles for Biomedical Applications’ by Prof. Jonathan Choi were arranged.
Delegation Visit from Hong Kong Federation of Innovative Technologies and Manufacturing Industries
CINTEC received 30 delegates from Hong Kong Federation of Innovative Technologies and Manufacturing Industries on 28 May 2015. 2 laboratory tours and 2 project presentations were arranged for the delegates.
CUHK ACTIVITY
IT Exploration Tours for Secondary Students
CINTEC organized 10 IT Exploration Tours for secondary students during this year’s IT Fest. The IT Exploration Tours were successfully held during 13-21 April 2015. Around 260 participants attended the events. The programme was organized to stimulate students’ interest in IT. Participants were arranged to explore IT facilities at CUHK and learn applications in workshops.
Professor Charles K. Kao Student Creativity Awards
Professor Charles K. Kao Student Creativity Awards is a biennial competition of technological innovation among full-time students in CUHK organized by CINTEC. To promote the culture of innovation on campus and to select innovative student projects for CUHK representation entry into national competitions, the Challenge Cup, a final competition was held on 18 April 2015. Awardees were invited to present their projects in the Prize Presentation Ceremony on 18 May 2015.
Opportunity Conference 2015
Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, was invited to be the panel speaker of Opportunity Conference 2015, which was held at CUHK on 11 April 2015. Prof. Wong participated in the panel discussion themed “Bridging the gap between knowing and the doing of entrepreneurship in Hong Kong”.
CUSCS Seminar to Senior Administration Staff of Guangzhou Port
Prof. K.F. Wong gave a talk, titled ‘大數據在物流業和管理學上的應用’ to the delegates of Guangzhou Port on 15 April 2015 in CUHK campus.

HKICT Awards 2015 Award Presentation Ceremony
As one of the judges of the category ‘Best SME ICT Award’, Prof. K.F. Wong attended the Award Presentation Ceremony on 10 April 2015 in Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The award ceremony aims to reward outstanding SMEs.
Hong Kong Federation of Innovative Technologies and Manufacturing Industries Big Data Talk
Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, was invited by the Hong Kong Federation of Innovative Technologies and Manufacturing Industries to be the speaker of a talk themed ‘大數據的挑戰和應用’ on 27 April 2015.
Big Data Analytic Student Workshop at Waseda University, Japan
Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, visited Japan on 29-30 April 2015. He visited Waseda University to give a talk in the Big Data Analytic Student Workshop.
ACCA Annual Conference
Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, was invited to be the panel speaker of ACCA Hong Kong Annual Conference 2015, which was held on 16 April 2015. Prof. Wong participated in the panel discussion themed “Encouraging and enabling innovation”.
