Mr. Howard Charney, Senior Vice President of CISCO will come to CUHK for a presentation on:
- Next Stages of the IT and Internet Revolution
- The Continuing Evolution of Web 2.0 and the Promise of Web 3.0

ABSTRACT:

Howard Charney has overseen the development and proliferation of key technologies that led directly to the global build-out of the Internet.Charney will discuss the critical shortage of information technology (IT) professionals in Hong Kong as well as the tremendous opportunities presented by the next stages of the IT and Internet revolution. He will examine how IT and the Internet have already ramped up productivity and standards of living here and around the world. In closing, he will discuss the continuing evolution of Web 2.0, the promise of Web 3.0, and possible breakthrough technologies of the future.Charney co-founded 3Com Corporation, founded Grand Junction Networks (which invented Fast Ethernet and low-cost switching), and is a senior vice president at Cisco.

Senior Vice President Howard Charney is a member of Cisco’s Office of the President and Executive Staff and reports directly to CEO John Chambers. He contributes to Cisco’s strategy and direction and advises customers on implementing critical Internet technologies to improve productivity and competitiveness. He is the company’s Executive Sponsor for the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau.
