Synopsis:

Human’s use of energy probably goes back to millions of years of history. And yet, today, we still struggle in the same way as early man. Dr. Poon will run through how energy is currently used and tell the challenges we face today. He will review the use of each type of energy, including oil, coal, gas, hydro, nuclear, and sustainable energy. Dr. Poon will outline the latest developments that may make a difference to our future use of Energy.

Dr. Poon’s career extends to most areas of energy. He was instrumental to many well-known energy projects, including Castle Peak Coal-fired Power Station, Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station, natural gas supply, hydro-electric pumped storage.

Dr. Poon was a founding member of the University Council of the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology. He also served as a Legislative Councillor.

Dr. Poon is a Charted Engineer and a Fellow of Hong Kong Institution of Engineers.
