J.P. Morgan Firmwide Visit

Prof. C.H. Cheng, Deputy Director of CINTEC, and Ms. Eman Lai were invited by J.P. Morgan to a Firmwide Visit on 19 August 2015 with other representatives from CUHK.

Recruitment Talks

In September, first term just started, 6 recruitment talks were held, included Huawei, Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers China Holding Limited, 9GAG and Gamatech. More recruitment talks will be held in October and November for engineering students.

Career Talk by IBM

A career talk by IBM themed “Consulting As a Career” was held on 25 September 2015. Marc Just, Partner – Enterprise Applications Service Line Leader and a few senior consultants shared the role of consultant to students. An overview of the consulting industry, core consultancy skills was introduced.

Engineering Internship Survey

An online internship survey was conducted on 4-14 September 2015. This year, to encourage the participation of all Engineering students, a lucky draw was introduced for students who completed the survey. At last, over 500 responses were received, which a Year 4 CSE student has won the lucky draw.

CUHK ACTIVITY

Closing Ceremony of CUHK Summer Research Placement Programme 2015

The CUHK Summer Research Placement Programme provided research placement opportunity and training to Mainland China and Taiwan students. Prof. K.F. Wong was one of the supporting professors and attended the captioned event on 14 August 2015 in CUHK campus.

CUSCS Seminars

Prof. K.F. Wong gave a talk, titled ‘產學研之間的合作’ to a Programme for the Administrative Staff of Shenzhen University on 24 August 2015 and delegates of Guangdong Medical University on 14 September 2015.

Also, Prof. C.H. Cheng presented a talk themed “香港中文大學在物聯網領域的研究成果” to Senior Administrative Staff of Science Parks and Companies of Guangzhou on 7 September 2015.

OUTREACH ACTIVITY

2015中國衛生信息技術交流大會暨兩岸四地電子健康論壇

Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, was invited to Suzhou to attend the captioned event on 6-8 August 2015. Prof. Wong presented a talk in “E-commerce and Information Security Forum”.

Meeting with The Hong Kong Society for the Aged

Prof. K.F. Wong and Prof. C.H. Cheng had a meeting with Dr. Ng Nam, Vice Chairman of SAGE, on 18 August 2015 to explore collaboration possibilities.

The 30th China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contest

Prof. K.F. Wong and other CUHK representatives attend the Opening Ceremony of the captioned event on 20 August 2015.

Fuji Xerox Innovation Day 2015

Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, was invited to the Fuji Xerox Innovation Day on 21 August 2015. Prof. Wong, as the Panel Moderator, participated in the “Next Generation Marketing Forum” to discuss the Leaders’ Perspective on Innovative Multi-channel Strategy.

Hong Kong Electronics and Technologies Association Symposium 2015

Prof. C.H. Cheng, Deputy Director of CINTEC, presented a talk in the captioned symposium, themed “M2M in IoT: Impacts and Opportunities”, on 24 August 2015. Prof. Cheng introduced recent IoT R&D work at CUHK in his talk “IoT Devices for Asset and Environment Monitoring”.

HKIA Technovation Conference-cum-Exhibition 2015

The captioned conference-cum-exhibition organized by Airport Authority Hong Kong was held on 15 September 2015. This year, the theme is Smart Airport: Object Tracking. Prof. K.F. Wong, represented CUHK to attend the Opening Ceremony, and Prof. C.H. Cheng presented his IoT projects in the exhibition.

香港創新及科技界領袖訪京團

Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, represented CUHK to join the Hong Kong ICT Mission to Beijing on 15-17 September 2015. The Hong Kong delegates visited several companies and representatives from ICT industry to explore possible collaborations.

Interview by HKFYG Youth Research Centre

HKFYG Youth Research Centre was conducting a research on Hong Kong’s Innovation and Technology. Prof. K.F. Wong, represented Faculty of Engineering, was invited to share some viewpoints and further insights on topic “誰偷走香港的創新科技?” in the interview on 23 September 2015.

Summer Technology Visits and Workshop

3 technology visits for ITSC members were arranged in August, which included Asia Airfreight Terminal, Civil Aviation Department and Hongkong International Terminals.
