The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region founded the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute Company Limited (ASTRI) in 2001 to capture the promises of technological advances for Hong Kong through world-class applied research, with a strategic plan to become Greater China’s most customer-focused applied research institution by continuously producing a substantial volume of world-competitive intellectual properties, and transfer them cost-effectively to the burgeoning local technology industries of Hong Kong, Pearl River Delta and the rest of China, and in so doing, position Hong Kong as a vital driving force for technology in the region.

As a research institution, one of active research activities in ASTRI is LTE development. LTE is the most advanced wireless communication standard. Most of mobile operators in the world such as China Mobile, T-Mobile, vodofone have selected LTE as the evolution of their existing 3G (WCDMA, CDMA-2000, TD-SCDMA) network.

1)  Project Intern – Engineer, LTE protocol Development

The duties of the position would be

• Participate in a team for wireless protocol development and testing for LTE which ranges from MAC, RLC, PDCP, RRC to NAS.
• Interface with hardware, RF, and DSP engineers to make sure system requirements can be fulfilled.
• Participate in Interoperability testing with world famous telecom equipment vendors

The requirement for this job would be

• Bachelor degree or above ;
• Strong programming skill in C/C++
• Knowledge of data structure, algorithm and computer networking
• Good communication skill

2) Summer Intern

Duties:

Help to do testing for most advanced LTE femto BTS and LTE UE emulator

The requirement for this job is

• Undergraduate or above; and
• Strong programming skill in C/C++ or matlab
• Good communication skill
• Duration of internship: Summer Intern
