Recruitment Talks

In February and March, 15 recruitment talks were held, included ASM Pacific Technology Limited, Analogue Group of Companies, SmarTone, Communications Association of Hong Kong. Besides, CINTEC helped to coordinate campus interviews for Cathay Pacific Airways Limited.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT

Delegation Visit from Government of Huizhou City

Prof. K.F. Wong represented CINTEC to receive nine delegates from the Government of Huizhou City on 21 March 2016 with PVC Prof. Fanny Cheung and Ms. Samantha Wong, Office of Academic Links (China).

Prof. K.F. Wong also attended 惠州大亞灣經濟技術開發區石化及配套服務合作懇談會 held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in the afternoon after the visit.

CUHK ACTIVITY

CUSCS Seminar

Prof. K.F. Wong gave a talk, titled ‘產學研之間的合作’ to a Programme for the Senior Staff of Jilin Agricultural University on 3 February 2016.

OUTREACH ACTIVITY

Visit to St. Francis Xavier’s College

Prof. K.F. Wong, represented Faculty of Engineering, had a meeting with Principal of St. Francis Xavier’s College for admission on 2 February 2016.

Media Interviews

Prof. K.F. Wong received several media interviews in February and March, such as Broadcast News Network on 22 February, TVB on 7 March and Now TV on 8 March.

HK SciFest 2016

Prof. K.F. Wong attended the opening ceremony for the integrated science programme HK SciFest 2016 on 5 March. HK SciFest 2016 was organized by the Hong Kong Science Museum and Faculty of Engineering was one of the partners.

The festival offered over 120 science exploration activities to encourage public interest in science and technology. CINTEC and Department of Computer and Engineering collaborated to provide a programme for secondary students as part of HK SciFest 2016.

Meeting with NTT Com Asia Limited and LSCM R&D Centre

Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, and Prof. C.H. Cheng, Associate Director of CINTEC, had a meeting with NTT Com Asia Limited and LSCM R&D Centre on 9 March 2016 to explore possible collaborative projects.

Hong Kong IT Delegation to Hunan香港IT界創新科技湖南訪問團

Prof. K.F. Wong was invited to lead a Hong Kong IT delegation tour to Hunan on 10-13 March 2016. Around 20 scholars and experts from different tertiary education institutes joined the tour. Prof. C.H. Cheng, Prof. H.F. Leung and Prof. Jie Huang also participated to visit National University of National Technology.

Open Forum in Teachers’ Professional Experience Sharing Month

Prof. K.F. Wong, represented Faculty of Engineering, was invited to be the keynote speaker of an open forum in Teachers’ Professional Experience Sharing Month on 19 March 2016, themed ‘STEM Education: A Voyage of Discovery and Exploration’.

ITSC ACTIVITY

Technology Visits

ITSC has arranged two technology visits for members in February and March. More than 10 members had a chance to visit Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (HAECO) on 27 February 2016. Another visit to Sky100 attracted around 60 secondary students to join on 24 March 2016.

STEM Education for Tseung Kwan O Government Secondary School

ITSC has cooperated with Tseung Kwan O Government Secondary School to arrange a talk and robotic workshop. Prof. Siu On Chan, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, was invited to present a talk themed ‘Creativity & IT Innovation’ to over 400 students on 2 March 2016. A robotic workshop was conducted on 9 March 2016 for 15 students. Students could learn to create a mobile app to control a robot car through Bluetooth.

Exchange Camp

ITSC has organized a 4-day exchange camp to Shenzhen, themed ‘Innovation for Better Life 創意令生活更美好‘, for members during Easter holidays. 17 ITSC members and 20 mainland students joined the event. They were divided into small groups for visits to BGI, 3 Nod; and group presentation. The activity allowed local members the opportunity to life in other cultures and understand student life in Mainland China.
