CINTEC held 21 recruitment talks in October and November 2014, companies included Asia Satellite, Cathay Pacific, Jardine, Octopus, 9GAG and more. Work study promotion and more recruitment talks will be held in next term.

 

EXHIBITION

Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) 2014

During 13-16 October 2014, CINTEC coordinated CUHK’s participation in Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, and five research projects were showcased.

InnoCarnival 2014

CINTEC coordinates CUHK’s participation in InnoCarnival, which is hosted by Innovation and Technology Commission at Hong Kong Science Park in every year. This year, it was held on 1-9 November 2014, apart from a 60 square meters main booth, CUHK also had two more booths (18 square meters each), they were ‘ITSC’ and ‘Fusion Between Chinese Cultural Arts & Robotics’.

We showcased 18 projects in total, while one of them is a students’ awarded project, and the rest are professors’ research projects. We held a press conference to promote one of the research projects, ‘Tree Guard Monitoring System’ on 28 October 2014, which is collaborated by Prof. CHENG Chun Hung, Deputy Director of CINTEC and Prof. CHIU Siu Wai.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT

Delegation visit by Hitachi Robotic Technologies R&D Team

Prof. K.F. Wong represented CINTEC to receive 15 delegates from Hitachi Robotic Technologies R&D Team on 13 November 2014.

 

CUHK ACTIVITY

ORKTS Opening Ceremony

The Office of Research and Knowledge Transfer Services (ORKTS) comprises formerly the Research Administration Office and the Knowledge Transfer Office. Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, attended the Opening Ceremony of ORKTS on 7 October 2014 at Pi Ch’iu Building.

 

CUSCS Programme and Seminar

Prof. K.F. Wong gave a talk, titled ‘產學研之間的合作’ to the delegates of South China Normal University on 8 October 2014 and Human Radio and TV University on 7 November 2014 in CUHK campus. He also gave a speech, titled ‘科技與創新管理的新模式’ during the Training Programme on 31 October 2014.

 

OUTREACH ACTIVITY

Visit to Korea

Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, visited Korea on 9-13 October 2014. He visited Korea University and Davincitf Corporation to explore collaboration projects.

 

「卓育菁莪」生涯規劃講座 (Career Planning Talk)

Prof. K.F. Wong represented Faculty of Engineering to deliver a talk at Lingnan Dr. Chung Wing Kwong Memorial Secondary School on 22 October 2014, Queen’s College Old Boys’ Association Secondary School on 14 November 2014 and Kowloon True Light School on 18 November 2014.

 

ISACA China HK Chapter CPD Seminar in HK

Prof. C.H. Cheng, Deputy Director of CINTEC, was invited by the ISACA China HK Chapter to be the speaker of CPD Seminar on 23 September 2014. Prof. Cheng introduced the applications of RFID and presented his research projects in this area.

 

Economic Digest’s Hong Kong Outstanding Enterprises Parade 2014

As invited by Economic Digest, Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC attended the captioned event on 28 October 2014. The award ceremony aims to reward outstanding enterprises. Prof. Wong delivered a speech and presented awards to the honorees of the winning companies.

 

Fuji Xerox 50th Anniversary VIP Luncheon & Celebration

Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, attended a networking luncheon hosted by Fuji Xerox on 18 November 2014. Prof. Wong also attended its 50th Anniversary Celebration on 19 November 2014 as the moderator of the Cloud Panel Discussion themed “The Revolutionary New Way To Work – How Cloud Technologies Shaped Future Work Style”.

 

18th Beijing Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium

Prof. K.F. Wong visited Beijing during 25-26 November 2014 to attend the captioned symposium. The event aims to gather specialists and scholars from Beijing and Hong Kong for the strategic development of innovation technology industry.

 

APAC Innovation Summit 2014

Prof. C.H. Cheng, Deputy Director of CINTEC, was invited to be the speaker of APAC Innovation Summit 2014, which was held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 2 December 2014. Prof. Cheng presented on “Logistics Management Systems using RFID-based Tracking & Sensing” in the Tech Forum themed “Internet of Things”.

 

ITSC

InnoCarnival 2014

As abovementioned, ITSC also participated in InnoCarnival 2014. There was a game for visitors, which is designed by ITSC members. Moreover, two projects were showcased, ‘Kitchen Grease Recycling System’ from Ju Ching Chu Secondary School (Yuen Long) and ‘Remotely Operated Vehicle’ from CMA Secondary School.
