Promotion of Work Study

Besides delivering internship talks at ENGG2600 classes of SEEM, EE, CE and BME in January, Mr. K.Y. Leung, Associate Director of CINTEC, gave presentation on internship to IE students on 10 February 2014 and MAE students on 17 February 2014 (as shown in photo) to strengthen the promotion of Work Study.

Recruitment talks & Career talk

In February and March, 14 recruitment talks were held, included ASM Pacific, HAECO, i-CABLE Communications. Moreover, an alumni of department of IE (IEAA) delivered 2nd career talk to CUHK students on 19 February 2014.

Visit to SIAT (Paul C. Lauterbur Research Center [SZ] for Biomedical Imaging)

CINTEC arranged a visit to Paul C. Lauterbur Research Centre to improve students’ knowledge of biomedical imaging. Around 10 engineering students attended the company visit in Shenzhen on 1 March 2014.

Visit to Hongkong International Terminals (HIT)

Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management arranged a visit to HIT on 11 March 2014. CINTEC participated and assisted during the visit.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT

Swire Properties

Ms. Charlie Melvoin, Marketing Officer of Swire Properties visited CINTEC on 14 February 2014. She discussed the idea with Prof. K.F. Wong, regarding the utilizing part of Quarry Bay Taikoo Place office space to create an innovation centre and incubator focused on media and technology.

Zhongshan City Delegation Visit (中山市代表團)

Prof. K.F. Wong represented CINTEC to receive a delegation from Zhongshan City. Around 20 representatives visited CUHK on 17 March 2014.

Seminar for Shenzhen University

Prof. K.F. Wong gave a talk, ‘產學研之間的合作’, to the delegates of Shenzhen University on 17 February 2014 in CUHK campus.

OUTREACH ACTIVITY

The Chamber of Hong Kong Computer Industry 2014-2015 Inauguration Ceremony

On 26 February 2014, Prof. K.F. Wong represented CUHK and attended the 2014-2015 Inauguration Ceremony of the Chamber of Hong Kong Computer Industry. It was also a consultant appointment ceremony of Hong Kong Computer & Communications Festival 2014 and a spring dinner for industry to communicate.

IT Square Editor’s Choice 2013 Award Presentation Ceremony

As invited by Sing Tao Newspaper Group Limited, Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC and Prof. C.H. Cheng, Deputy Director of CINTEC attended the captioned event on 27 February 2014. The award ceremony aims to reward outstanding IT vendors who excel in innovative IT solutions and provide the maximum value and contribution for business development. Prof. K.F. Wong delivered a speech and presented awards to the honorees of the winning companies.

VEX Robot Competition 2014 「皇者決擲 」九龍東 VEX 機械人挑戰賽

Prof. K.F. Wong, Director of CINTEC, was invited by Chang Pui Chung Memorial School to be the guest judge of VEX Robot Competition on 2 March 2014. He presented awards to students in the prize-giving ceremony after the competition.

ITSC

Year-end Ceremony of Innovation and Technology Student Club (ITSC)

The ITSC Year-end Ceremony was held on 15 March 2014. This year, around 35 participants attended the ceremony. The ceremony was divided into 3 sessions: CU ACE, Balloon Car Competition and 2014-2015 Programme Presentation. CU ACE, which is also known as CU Hunt, allowed participants to know more about the University; while in the Balloon Car Competition, they can design a new balloon car in a group.
